As a fashionista, you’ll be well aware of Hugo Boss and you’ll know they are a German outfit that’s one of Europe’s biggest fashion brands. Since the 1920s Hugo Boss has been creating men’s suits and more recently branched out to create watches offer style with affordability.
Primarily Hugo Boss was concerned with Men’s fashion but with the entry into additional product lines, this has moved to both men’s and women’s fashion accessories.
What Is Boss?
Hugo Boss build quality is pretty good with stainless steel cases and mineral crystal with straps in stainless steel, leather or rubber. Their movements are super reliable quartz electronic for accuracy, and most models have a water resistance to 100 meters. That’s good if you don’t want to worry about water damage through general use.
You could say Hugo Boss is traditional when it comes to Watch design. The styling is biased towards the classic black and silver look that’s basic but more than suitable for business or evening wear.
Although the ranges aren’t as broad as other brands, they do offer a number of sports models with chronometer features and the occasional limited edition pieces to add a little color and spice.
I would say the Boss lean towards Men’s fashion and that’s reflected in the pricing structure. Prices seem to be distinctly different depending on who you’re shopping for. Like other fashion labels, they have an entry level, but it’s different for men and women. For example, the starting point for the men’s’ range is at the $100 mark and increases to $600, but like other brands, they also have their limited editions that can push the price to $1000.
Having said that, the Boss pricing is a pretty mid range or aspirational affair in terms of luxury branding.
My Boss Watch
My Boss watch is creatively known as the hb.188.8.131.528. I know, it’s romantic, right? You can see it’s a very traditional Boss offering with its black dial, silver hands and roman markers. The case is a 29mm/46mm brushed steel finish It has a date window, powered by Quartz heart. Basically, it’s a really nice traditional luxury watch for a $200 price tag.
The Take Away
I think the main thing to take away from this is the Boss appeal is a mixture of traditional styling at affordable pricing. There’s a bigger choice of men’s watches than there are for women’s watches. But say said, with the traditional look and feel of these evening or business wear models, a wide choice is somewhat unnecessary.
Build quality is pretty good and so too is the quality of the movement, giving reliability and precision with maintenance free quartz. All this in a well presented traditional package at an affordable price.

How to Buy A Designer Watch
The last thing I want to mention was how to track down your favorite watch. If you’re interested in finding a particular brand or model there are many places to look. The Armani brand, for example, is usually available in high-end department stores, but I would recommend only checking them out at the department store. Try them on, see if you like the brand and model then start shopping around.
You’re going to find that the prices in the department store are pretty steep, so I suggest shopping around online for the best bargain. There are countless places online to investigate, but to make your life a little easier for you, follow the link below to my Discount Watch Stores review page. Here you can get an idea about some of the biggest stores and what they offer, but more importantly, you can get an idea about the quality by going through customer reviews.
I hope this helps you, but please let me know what you think.
