Buy The Prestigious Breitling Superocean Automatic 44

Breitling Superocean Automatic

Back in 2015, the brand new Breitling Superocean II was introduced shortly before Baselworld, this particular example is the 44-mm model with a metallic blue dial and matching blue bezel insert, with a rubber strap. The bezel has been redesigned featuring a luminous dot at 12 o’clock, a 15-minutes gradation scale, different dial with Arabic numerals and a slimmer case with partially satin-brushed surfaces.

What Changed?

The flavors available are between a 44mm and 42mm with black or blue dial, or black and white if you want to downsize to a 36-mm case. It’s only the 44-mm model that features an integrated helium release valve at 9 o’clock, making it the most “professional” version, rated at 1,000 meters water resistance.

The safely unidirectional bezel is partially filled with rubber as was the previous version, and the dial in the true tradition of Breitling is really quite busy, although easily, if not surprisingly legible. However, at 3 Oclock we see the Date window with something pretty weird happening with the 24hr internal circle which seems to be pushed aside to make room for the Date window. I can’t imagine this was a design feature but more of an oversight that surprises me because Breitling has always struck me as a brand with attention to detail.

Putting this to the back of my mind, it’s still true the Breitling Superocean II is well built, quality Dive Watch that I’d be more than happy to own and use on a regular basis.

The Take Away

The Superocean II in a 44-mm stainless steel case with screw-down crown, solid case back, sapphire crystal, together with unidirectional bezel, rubber strap, and 1000-meter water resistance.. take a breath… is a lovely bit of kit. It has everything you can ask for of a Diver Watch from Breitling, and the additional options in sizes, colors, and straps give more freedom customize your look.

All things considered, this is a lovely model and I’m happy to over look the strange goings on with the Date window.
