The calendar complication is something we take forgrated and that is certainly true of the perpetual calendar.
This may be one of the most useful complications that us without giving it any thought. Have you ever given a thought for leap years?
No? well the perpetual calendar does. With the use of a complex set gearing this complication can plan ahead and display the correct day, date, month, year, and leap year and only needs adjusting once a century.
So, assuming your watch is wound correctly on a regular basis your perpetual calendar will not need any adjustment the year 2100 at the earliest. This is when leap years are skipped at the turn of a century, so a mechanical movement requires a push forward at the end of February.
