Invicta Watches Review by Discount Watch Stores

Invicta Watches Review by Discount Watch Stores

I have recently been giving some serious thought to the Invicta brand and how it fits into the Discount Watch Stores ethos on product quality and affordability. In my previous Invicta Watches Review, I think I missed something important, and that was the thoughts of other watch collectors which I am now collating to create this all-inclusive review.

Rather than just banging on about what I think about the Invicta brand and how much I like it in terms of value for money, this time I want to look at the true value to a watch enthusiast taking into account design, build and materials quality and value for money. Helping me with this review are some are a number of bloggers and ‘YouTubers’ giving their opinions on the brand whether positive or negative, followed by a roundup and conclusion.

Why search the web for feedback and opinions when there are all in one place, right?

So, here goes, I hope this goes some way to help you out.

My Personal Opinion

From way back when I had always been focused on quality and value for money regardless of the ‘Brand Value’ which is something else. The Invicta brand had always interested me because I felt it did a number of things, namely, offered exciting designs that at often looked similar to top-end brands while offering reasonable build quality at low low prices. What could be wrong with that, right?

Well, although that question was rhetorical it’s worth answering just the same. In short, there is nothing wrong with offering all the qualities mentions above, but as long as the buyer understands. You see, I’ve come to understand that many people have a negative idea about Invicta so I want to open up the debate by offering opinions for and against the brand.

Bloggers Review 1

The first blogger on this post goes by the name of Phatkat Collections and he asks Are Invicta watches any good?

Video courtesy of Phatkat Collection

Phatkat’s commentary is a nicely balanced piece taking into account the ‘lovers’ and ‘haters’ and goes on to talk about Invicta being a brand for confident people, not people who like to hide in the shadows, and with the size of the pieces in his collection, it’s easy to see why.

Bloggers Review 2

The second blogger is Jeffrey McMahon who published this video Jul 23, 2016, entitled What I Learned from My Invicta Days.

Video courtesy Jeffrey McMahon

To my mind, Jeffrey McMahon seems to be talking about a natural progression from his starter collection that leads to a more mature collection, or evolution as he described it. I think if you listen to his commentary he basically says the brand is more of a fashion or costume watch that fits certain situations. This in its self isn’t a denigration of the brand, more a way of placing it in a position in the market.

Bloggers Review 3

My third blogger goes by the handle of The Urban Gentry and published this May 15, 2017

Video courtesy The Urban Gentry

The interesting points the Urban Gentry made in his commentary is the fact that Invicta was originally a genuine Swiss brand founded back in 1837, going on to make the point that Invicta have 3 specific sides to their collection describing them as Vintage Invicta, Homage by another name, and the large macho style watches.

Throughout the video, Urban Gentry remained absolutely positive about the brand although admitted the larger, oversized macho collections were not to his taste, which is something I can really grab hold of. I found it really interesting that he clearly agrees with Jeffrey McMahon when he described Invicta as a gateway watch.

If you’re not family with the larger pieces in the collection the next video from Phatkat Collections gives you a great idea of what’s out there.

I purchased an Invicta watch last year for myself. I have never had a high quality watch before. My mistake was thinking it was high quality. I had the watch for 3 months and had to send it back for repair. All my contact information was in the box. I never heard from them. I finally called them and they told me it would $120.00 to repair my watch. I said it was still under warranty, why would I have to pay? They already cashed the $28.00 dollar check I sent in, they told me that is just to have them look at it. The watch battery needed to be replaced…it was under a year old. Are you kidding me! Also the dollars to put back on. Please think twice about purchasing a watch from this company. I am in now for about $300.00. What a rip-off.

Bought a top of the line watch. Only wore it a little and in less than a year the number marks fell off inside the face. I took it to the store and they sent it in for repair. When it came back they charged me 100 and did a not acceptable repair. I took it back and they said they would take care of it. 2 month later they wanted to charge me more. I told them to send the watch back to me and I’m still waiting. STAY AWAY FROM THIS WATCH COMPANY. THEY ARE DISHONEST CROOKS AND SCAMMERS

Invicta watches are hit or miss. I have been a lucky one. In the past 4 months, I have purchased. 14. Now this was due to deals they were having. “Buy one get one free”. And buying as gifts for others. With that said. I will NEVER use Invicta’s warranty. It crap!!! Still have one in the Invicta repair shop from 3 months ago. And still no word from them. I’ve called several times to no avail. It was a cheap watch 50$. Wife liked it a lot so paid to get it in. Wish I hadn’t now that I found a watch repair down the street from my house. It’s the only way to go with Invicta watches $6 bucks to replace battery and bands can be bought on eBay and Amazon. This is what Invicta wants, that’s obvious to me.

My Thoughts

While I was looking at customer feedback I was very surprised at the number of negative and bad reports of both products and customer service, I’ve only added three to this post because I didn’t feel I needed to add more. Normally I would expect negative reports together with the positive ones because you can’t please everyone all the time, so this is a little confusing.

The thing is, how can Invicta be such a company, and growing, while every customer they have is unhappy? How is it there are plenty of bloggers out there singing their praises of this brand and not just blindly saying they love it but being very thoughtful in their overall outlook. This to me is very confusing, so I invite all my readers to keep an open mind and don’t just dismiss the brand until you have done some homework and asked more people about it.

Best Selling Invicta Watches

So, there is a mixed bag of reviews out there from very poor to second to none for the price points, so there must be somewhere in the middle of all this where the truth resides.

Out of all the Invicta collections the ‘Pro Divers’ get the best press regarding design, functionality and build quality followed by their diver watches, but don’t forget Invicta have been criticized for taking design cues from other watch companies, to the extent their collects could be described as copies or homages to the big plays. One example of this might be the Pro Diver and Rolex Submariner.

Rolex Submariner / Invicta Pro Diver.

Invicta - Rolex Submariner

The Invicta Men’s 6620 is the top selling pieces from Invicta with its durable brushed and polished Stainless steel casing housing the Swiss movement, although not Swiss-made. The white dail has Arabic numerals engraved with 5-minute increments and metallic hands. Topped with protective flame-fusion window dial window it is water resistant to 330 feet making it perfect snorkeling, swimming, and water sports while remaining affordable.

The 0070 Pro Diver is a sporty watch, built with attention to detail. This is another durable brushed and polished stainless steel case, this time with a unidirectional bezel surrounding the blue dial and its three luminous subdials. Notice the date window is magnified for ease of use under the concave crystal giving it a water resistance to 660 feet making it ideal for scuba diving.

Invicta 6983 is Invicta’s high-performance sports watch with its blue dial toned with a golden hue is stylish and eye-catching from every angle. The sub dials function as a chronograph and notice the month and day windows around the bottom circumference. The stainless steel in gold-tone case works well with blue and gold detail that includes the unidirectional bezel with 18K gold plating and Arabic numerals. Under the mineral crystal giving a water resistance of up to 330 feet, the face sports dot markers on the hours and the hands are easily visible as fat swordlike hands.

The 0072 Pro-Diver is a gold-plated Stainless steel case and bracelet with flame-fusion is made from durable crystal and screw down crown making it water resistance of up to 200 meters so it’s good for swimming and everyday water dangers. Housed in the case is an accurate Swiss quartz movement with three subdials at 2, 6 and 10 o’clock which is minutes, hours, and seconds respectively. The hands and dials are luminous so easily visible and the date window is magnified.

The 6977 Pro-Diver is a quartz driven piece so nice and accurate while having the looks of a winner with its silver and black colors scheme. The bezel, dial, and strap in black while the markers on the face and bezel together with the hands are silver giving a striking appearance. On the dial, there are three subdials offering full chorography functionality under a scratch resistant mineral crystal giving a water resistance to 330 feet.

Final Word

After taking into account all of the opinions and feedback I have to admit to feeling somewhat conflicted having changed my mind on numerous occasions, but I want to share a revelation with you. The whole Invicta range is all about variety allowing them to offer different collections to different demographics.

So, if the variety is a good thing the next thing we need to look at is the materials and build quality. Invicta does offer a number of movements such as the Seagull ST-19 used their Technica Swiss Ebauche 1902 Mechanical Chronograph, the SII/Epson NH25 and the Miyota 8215 used in the popular Pro-Diver. So although we know some collections may be better than others, it’s probably a good idea to check out which movement your preferred Invicta is rocking.

Overall, the Invicta provides a reasonably high-quality movement for the watch’s price point making it a perfect ‘Starter’ or ‘Gateway’ watch brand for beginning a collection. So if you’re looking for the best price watch go ‘Pro-Diver’ the classy look-a-like or ‘homage’ to the Rolex Submariner, it’s really a functional fashion watch at an affordable price, so what’s not to like?

So, if you’re looking for the perfect Watch at the perfect price, from a trusted source, you know it can be a stressful experience, but with the right help and advice, you too can find your dream timepiece. As I’m considered an expert in my field and I write for other publications like Wrist Review I know you’ll benefit from my experience and avoid the pitfalls.
